Dear Carol

Tomorrow you will have left us four years ago. I too think about you and miss you daily. I might not have been able to see you in the four years but I still enjoy our conversations we have even if there are one sided.
Thank you for always being there for me.
Love always, Kathy

Well, my best friend Jenny (whom I've known since kindergarten way back in 1968) just emailed me the link to this page today, 1/24/08. Why? Because the "pert and freckle-faced young lady" on the cover of Life Magazine's August 6, 1951 issue was my dear mom, Carol Braun! I really loved your story ... Amazing how life works. I imagine you must know that Braun is the German equivalent of Brown ... and is (in Germany) pronounced brown. I have many issues of Mom's magazine myself ... I bought every one I could find at Cameron's Books in Portland in the 80s and 90s. I thought you should know that my mom was a fantastic person, a beauty in every way. Kind and loving and smart. You and she both had a pretty life-changing week, the week of August 6, 1951. Thank you for sharing your story.

See, this is why I got into computing in the first place. When I was young, all these deceitful photos led me to believe that technology and babes went together. When I left publishing and got into software development, I discovered it was populated exclusively by antisocial guys with poor hygiene.

Who do I sue?

Hi!

I really miss 'Calvin and Hobbes' ... not long after this one, I believe, Waterson had a follow-up whereby Calvin asks Hobbes: "Where do you think we go when we die?"

Hobbes thinks for a moment before answering: "I believe we wind up playing saxophone for an all-girl Jazz band in New Orleans."

Calvin: "So you believe in Heaven?"

Hobbes: "Call it what you like."

You just may be correct in calling Juliet Prowse the most beautiful woman to ever appear on this planet.
I'm 55 y.o.a. and the "Mona" show had the same impact on me.
The thing is, till the last year or so, she just kept getting better looking the older she became. Chalk it up to her training, genetics, whatever. She just became more beautiful with each passing year.

Very clear thinking, yup. Lessee...how much TNT can you buy with 66,000USD? And, as we see in Iraq now, the warlords will immediately appropriate the 66Kusd from each of their minions, and then start new internicene wars to get the rest from their neighboring warlords and their minions.

I suppose that's very capitalist: instead of killing each other (and the US soldiers) in random bombings for muslim-sect-ish reasons, they can do it for money.
